The Open Door After School
Care at St.
John's Episcopal Church Union City, NJ. "Open Door" is a
non-sectarian program providing after school care for children
between the ages of 6 and 15. Most come from minority homes,
and many are from single parent families just above the poverty
level. 'Open Door' at St. John's provides a safe haven designed
to keep kids off the streets. Donations are used to purchase arts/craft
items, gym equipment, and educational CD Roms for tutorial
assistance. 90% of the children are from Third World countries
making remedial education a top priority.
